Set the method for production AI
Aviva's Chief AI Office sits at the centre of an enterprise-wide transformation spanning markets, functions and customer journeys. It connects strategy with delivery, adoption and governance, helping the business apply AI faster, more safely and with clearer evidence of value. You'll join while the function is taking shape, helping establish how Aviva moves from individual AI opportunities to responsible, measurable change at scale.
Moving AI into safe, reliable production needs more than individual technical success. You'll define and improve the One Aviva Way for AI, creating the reusable method, patterns and production standards that help teams deliver consistently at scale.
A bit about the job
This role is at the heart of the Chief AI Office, making sure that Aviva delivers AI at the pace needed to keep up with the markets. You'll bring AI delivery credibility, agile ways of working and enterprise influence, working with delivery squads to refine our AI delivery method in practice, remove friction and turn lessons from live delivery into better tools, patterns and standards.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Defining and maintaining Aviva’s end-to-end AI delivery method, from discovery and experimentation to release, monitoring and improvement
- Making sure that our AI end-to-end delivery method is the fastest in the industry whilst also being responsible
- Coaching AI, engineering, data and product teams to adopt the Aviva end-to-end AI delivery method and deliver more rapidly as a result
- Working with teams to identify common dependencies and Bottlenecks and systematically removing them
- embedding responsible AI, privacy, cyber, model risk and service requirements into normal engineering delivery
- Building a delivery community that shares evidence, learns from live use cases and improves the method over time.
- Measured on: speed of AI deployment (from idea to production), enterprise AI portfolio compliance level with risk standards, as well as contribution to team goals such as enterprise AI adoption
Skills and experience we're looking for
You’ll bring experience in many of these areas:
- Significant experience building and deploying AI, machine-learning or generative AI solutions in production in highly regulated industries like financial services
- Strong knowledge of modern AI architectures, retrieval, agents, evaluation and human-in-the-loop design
- Experience with MLOps or LLMOps, continuous integration and delivery, testing, observability and production operations
- Evidence of defining agile delivery methods, standards, reusable patterns or developer enablement across more than one team
- The ability to coach technical teams and influence senior engineering, architecture, product and risk stakeholders
- Experience delivering technology in financial services or another regulated environment would be useful.
Why Aviva?
AI is already making a difference across Aviva through areas such as claims summarisation, medical underwriting, customer service and fraud detection. The Chief AI Office is creating a reliable enterprise view of the investment, delivery, benefits, dependencies and risk behind that activity.
Across a business serving more than 25 million customers globally, your analysis will help leaders prioritise attention, test confidence in benefits and intervene where delivery, dependencies or evidence are off track.
What you’ll get for this role:
Our purpose - with you today, for a better tomorrow – is a promise we make to our colleagues too. And one of the ways we live up to that…
