Data Scientist, Machine Learning/ ML Engineer, AI Engineer (Applied/Software), Data Analyst
Perfect role for a mid professional looking to grow their AI & Technology career in Glasgow.
Data has become the raw material of every serious AI product, and someone still has to shape it. This growing technology startup is building AI driven tools and needs a Data Scientist who can turn messy datasets into models that actually ship. Glasgow's tech scene has quietly become one of the UK's stronger AI hubs, and this is a chance to be properly embedded in that, not just adjacent to it.
Here’swhat you’ll be doing:
- Build, test and refine machine learning models that feed directly into the product, not just sit in a notebook
- Clean and prepare datasets from multiple sources, flagging quality issues before they become someone else's problem
- Work closely with engineers to get models into production and keep them running once they're there
- Run experiments and A/B tests, then translate the results into decisions the team can actually act on
- Present findings to non-technical stakeholders in plain language, no jargon, no padding
- Monitor live model performance and retrain or adjust when the data drifts
- Strong Python skills, with solid experience in libraries like pandas, scikit-learn or similar
- A working grasp of statistics and machine learning fundamentals, applied rather than just theoretical
- Experience with SQL and handling data at scale
- Comfortable working independently and making calls without waiting for sign-off at every step
- Good communication. You’ll need to explain a model’s limitations to someone who doesn’t care about the maths
- Some exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or Azure) is a strong plus
- Salary of £44,500 to £57,000, depending on experience
- Equity in a company that's still early enough for it to mean something
- Hybrid working from Glasgow, with real flexibility on hours
- A genuine learning and development budget, not a token gesture
- Flat structure. You’ll have direct access to decision makers, not five layers of management between you and them
AI & Technology isn't slowing down, and Data Scientist roles sit right at the centre of that growth. Glasgow has built a reputation as a serious base for this kind of work, with lower costs than London and no shortage of ambition. Good data scientists are still hard to find, which means the ones who deliver tend to move up fast.
