Role

Volunteer Translators and Proofreaders (Remote) at Wise Mentoring CIC.

About Wise Mentoring

Wise Mentoring is a Community Interest Company that supports children living in the North East of Glasgow through character education and mentoring, providing weekly group and one‑to‑one sessions for children aged 9‑11 and drop‑in and family days.

Responsibilities
  • Translate Wisebooks and other materials into the specified languages.
  • Proofread materials in the specified languages.
  • Work independently and creatively.
  • Engage with the organization through virtual induction and file resources.
Languages needed
  • Translation:
    Arabic, Cantonese, Czech, Slovakian, Greek, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Azerbaijani, Hausa, Tamil, Urdu, Farsi, Dutch, German, Gaelic, and any other language not listed.
  • Proofreading:
    French, Japanese, Cantonese, Polish, Malaysian, Arabic, Hindi, Greek, Bengali.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of at least one of the listed languages and ability to translate or proofread.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively.
  • Minimum age: 16.
  • Adequate literacy levels for written translation work.
  • Remote role – requires a working laptop or computer.
Availability
  • Days:
    Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
  • Times:
    Morning, afternoon, evening.
Frequency & Commitment

Flexible, but encouraged to volunteer at least 2 hours per week.

Travel and Expenses

No travel required. No expenses are reimbursed.

Support

Volunteers will receive an induction, translation resources, and access to internal file drives.

Benefits

Volunteers aged 16‑25 may claim Saltire Awards hours for their activity.
