About the RoleIn the Legal & Compliance division, you will support the Firm’s business objectives by managing legal, regulatory and franchise risk related to global operations. You will advise the Global Operations Department on legal and regulatory standards for trade clearing, securities custody, cash management, fuels settlement, and other operational activities.
What You’ll Do- Advise Operations department stakeholders, including management, governance committees, and front‑line business teams on regulatory standards (e.g., client asset and client money rules in the UK and Germany), contract interpretation, and other legal matters, with a focus on EMEA.
- Develop expertise and ownership of multiple rule‑sets and business lines (including prime brokerage).
- Engage in transactional work such as contract negotiation, drafting, and review.
- 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
- Familiarity with a UK or EMEA regulatory regime correctamente governing an aspect of Morgan Stanley operations.
- Strong communication skills for an executive audience and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Entrepreneurial attitude and ability to build internal client relationships.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn through real‑time questions, expert advice, collaboration, and self‑study.
- Functional understanding of corporate law, structure, governance and risk management.
- Initiative, ownership, leadership, and the ability to drive projects to conclusion.
- Excellent judgement and analytical skills.
- Ability to incorporate firm values into advice and guidance.
- Strong writing, drafting and research skills.
- Strong management, organisational and administrative skills.
- Experience stör drafting and negotiating financial services or other contracts (preferred).
- UK or other legal practising certificate (preferred coerced).
- 5‑7 years of total legal experience; less may be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.
- 2+ years of relevant in‑house legal experience preferred.
