Anderson Strathern Seeks Senior Employment Solicitor in Glasgow – A Strategic Career Move for Scotland's Legal Talent

Are you an ambitious employment solicitor with more than two years of post-qualification experience? Anderson Strathern, one of Scotland's most respected independent law firms, is on the hunt for a Senior Solicitor, Associate, or Senior Associate to join its acclaimed Employment, Immigration and Pensions (EIP) team in Glasgow. This is not just another legal role—it is an opportunity to work alongside recognised specialists in one of the country's largest and most experienced employment law teams while building a career in a firm that values innovation, collaboration, and professional growth.

Whether you are a seasoned litigator or a solicitor with a strong advisory practice, this position offers a rare blend of high-stakes tribunal work, strategic client counselling, and business development exposure. For legal professionals looking to make a meaningful move within Scotland or from abroad, this role deserves serious attention.

Why Anderson Strathern Stands Out in Scottish Law

Anderson Strathern is a modern, forward-thinking law firm with a proud history and an ambitious future. The firm is independent, embraces technology, and has earned the prestigious Investors in People and Investors in Young People Gold awards—a testament to its commitment to staff development and workplace culture. But what truly differentiates Anderson Strathern in the competitive Scottish legal market is its reputation for excellence while maintaining a supportive, inclusive, and enjoyable atmosphere.

“We believe that great work comes from great people, and we are committed to helping our colleagues build rewarding and successful careers.”

This ethos is particularly evident in the EIP department, which is described as “fun and dynamic”, with team members based in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and remotely in Aberdeen. The team is one of the largest and most experienced in Scotland, acting for clients across the UK and beyond. It includes five lawyers accredited as specialists in employment law by the Law Society of Scotland, one accredited in discrimination law, one Signet Accredited lawyer, and two certified mediators.

The team is also supplemented by four HR professionals who support the HR Plus service, providing a truly integrated approach to client needs.

The department's lawyers are regularly ranked in both Chambers and Partners and Legal 500, reflecting the high calibre of the work and the recognition they receive from clients and peers. For any solicitor seeking to deepen their employment law expertise, being part of such a recognised team is an invaluable career asset.

What You Will Actually Do

This is a senior-level position with significant responsibility from day one. The successful candidate will act as a trusted adviser to clients, delivering strategic and commercially focused advice on a wide range of complex workplace issues. But beyond day-to-day advisory work, the role involves leading Employment Tribunal litigation from start to finish. That means taking full responsibility for case strategy, pleadings, correspondence with the Tribunal, and client risk management.

You will also be responsible for overseeing the preparation of high-quality evidential material, including taking instructions, drafting and reviewing witness statements, and ensuring consistency with litigation strategy. This is a role for someone who is not afraid to take ownership and who thrives in a challenging, fast-paced environment.

In addition to litigation and advisory work, the role involves supporting other departments within the firm on non-contentious matters such as TUPE warranties and indemnities on the sale or transfer of a business. You will also deliver training and workshops to clients and non-clients, and…
