Jones Whyte

Jones Whyte is a 300 person law firm with offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh. We were named Firm of the Year 2026 (over 250 employees) at the Scottish Legal Awards. We were also Scottish Top Employer of the Year at The Herald & s1jobs Top Employer Awards 2025.

The opportunity

You will run your own Residential caseload of purchases, sales and title transfers from instruction to settlement. A dedicated Paralegal will work alongside you on every file, so you can spend your time on the legal work rather than the admin.

The team

You will join our Conveyancing department, led by Ross Jones and Gillian Cogan. You will join a department of circa 30 people and be paired one-to-one with a dedicated Conveyancing Paralegal. You will have full ownership of your files, with the Partner and Senior Solicitors on hand whenever a matter needs a second view.

What you will do
  • Manage your own caseload of residential purchases, sales and title transfers, from instruction to settlement
  • Examine titles, report to clients and lenders, and deal with missives
  • Keep clients updated at each stage by phone and email, within our service level agreements
  • Work with your Paralegal day to day to keep files moving and deadlines met
  • Liaise with selling agents, other Solicitors, lenders and Registers of Scotland
  • Run your files on our case management system
What we are looking for
  • 3+ years’ post-qualification experience in Scottish Residential Conveyancing
  • Experience across a range of residential property matters
  • Confident handling client calls and keeping clients informed through a transaction
  • Strong attention to detail when examining titles and preparing documents
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and case management systems

Desirable but not essential: commercial property experience

What you will get
  • Company pension scheme (Royal London)
  • Medicash health plan (BUPA health insurance from Associate level)
  • Holiday Loyalty Scheme: up to 5 extra days
  • Buy or sell up to 3 days’ holiday each year
  • An early finish on your birthday
  • Hybrid working (on completion of induction training)
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Salary Extras: discounts and savings at a wide range of retailers
  • Wellbeing support and social events

We’re managing this vacancy directly, so we won’t be accepting support from recruitment agencies.
