Role Description The Maintenance Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based at VCity Apart Hotels in Glasgow City. This role is responsible for carrying out routine inspections, responding to maintenance requests, and ensuring all apartments and common areas are safe, functional, and well-presented. Daily tasks include performing repairs on plumbing, electrical fixtures, appliances, and furnishings, as well as supporting larger maintenance projects when required.
The Maintenance Specialist will complete preventive maintenance schedules, keep accurate records of work performed, and coordinate with external contractors when needed. The role also involves working closely with the front-of-house and housekeeping teams to address guest issues quickly, minimize downtime, and help maintain high standards of guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Strong background in Maintenance & Repair and general Maintenance across building, room, and facility systems.
- Hands-on experience with Equipment Maintenance, including safe use of tools and basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Proficiency in Preventive Maintenance, including routine inspections, servicing, and documenting completed work.
- Effective Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues quickly and safely, often with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience in hospitality, residential, or facilities maintenance is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and respond flexibly to urgent maintenance requests.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach when interacting with guests and team members.
- Relevant vocational training, trade certification, or equivalent on-the-job experience is an advantage.
