Job Title: Estate Services Caretaker x 3
Salary: Grade 4, £31,570 – £37,091 pro rata
Contract: Permanent, Fixed‑Term, and Sessional Bank opportunities available
Role OverviewQueens Cross Housing Association, an award‑winning social landlord based in Glasgow, manages 4,355 properties including community housing and commercial office space. We are looking for dedicated, customer‑focused Estate Services Caretakers to support our Estates Services team on both day and night shifts, ensuring our buildings and neighbourhoods are safe, clean and well maintained.
Day Shift Estate CaretakerThere are two day‑shift contract options:
Permanent and Fixed‑Term (until 31 March 2027). The work pattern is 37.5 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off rota (7:30 am – 7:30 pm). Your role will involve delivering high‑quality estate caretaking service across our neighbourhoods, carrying out inspections, responding to incidents, and supporting estate improvements.
- Deliver high‑quality estate caretaking services across neighbourhoods.
- Carry out estate inspections and take action to resolve cleaning, maintenance and environmental issues.
- Undertake cleaning, minor repairs and property maintenance to keep communal areas safe and clean.
- Provide a visible presence on estates and respond to customer enquiries and incidents.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors and partner agencies to resolve estate issues.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.
- Work flexibly in a reactive environment where priorities can change throughout the day.
- Experience in estate caretaking, facilities management, property maintenance, cleaning, a trade or a similar frontline role.
- Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to organise workload and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Practical skills for minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Basic IT skills for recording information and communicating effectively.
- A proactive, reliable approach with the ability to respond positively to changing priorities.
Contract:
Fixed‑Term until 30 May 2027. The work pattern is 42 hours per week on a 4 on 4 off rota (7:30 pm – 7:30 am). The role provides an out‑of‑hours estate service, maintaining safety, security and cleanliness while responding to customer enquiries and incidents.
- Work independently and make sound decisions in a fast‑paced, reactive environment.
- Provide a visible presence across estates through regular patrols and inspections.
- Respond to out‑of‑hours incidents, emergencies and customer enquiries, taking appropriate action.
- Monitor estate conditions, CCTV and security issues, escalating concerns where required.
- Carry out cleaning, minor repairs and maintenance to keep estates safe and well maintained.
- Work with colleagues, contractors and emergency services to resolve incidents effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents and actions taken.
- Experience in estate caretaking, facilities management, property maintenance, cleaning, a trade or a similar frontline role.
- Good understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and make sound decisions.
- Practical skills for minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Basic IT skills for recording information and communicating effectively.
- A full UK driving licence.
We are expanding our bank of Sessional Estate Caretakers to provide cover for annual leave, training and sickness across the Estates Services team.
