The business provides a range of services to the Scottish SME market including Audit, Accounts & Advisory, Tax Compliance and Advisory, Payroll, Corporate Finance and Business Recovery. As part of the expansion of the Audit business we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Senior Manager/Manager to join an existing team.
The individual will assume responsibility for an existing portfolio of clients, supporting the directors and partners as they seek to drive the future growth of the Audit department and wider business.
- Develop and maintain positive commercial relationships with a portfolio of clients in order to drive the development of client work in terms of quality of work done and services provided.
- Maintain close contact with the client throughout the engagement including attending client meetings. Agree with the Partner level of Partner involvement in respect of the engagement.
- Keep Partners and Directors adequately informed of progress on engagements and of potential problems requiring resolution.
- Assist the Partner or Head of Department in the control of work in progress and billing.
- Plan and develop the assignment work programme having regard to the most effective use of staff and available resources.
- Manage assignments to ensure that work is completed to a satisfactory technical standard and on time.
- Review and control all assignment outputs including correspondence, reports and schedules, ensuring that the highest standards of quality and accuracy are maintained.
- Review the audit file and ensure that it is complete in accordance with best auditing practice.
- Where significant problems are identified in the client’s operations, provide advice in recommending an appropriate course of action either by utilising expertise from the assignment team or from elsewhere in the firm.
- Perform such detailed tasks as may be required including work of an advanced technical nature.
- To be aware of the latest technical developments through reading and attendance of courses (internal and external).
- Maintain liaison with the Tax Manager.
- Development of systems and procedures and services within your department.
- Assist with the performance and development of the Audit Department staff, being aware of collective strengths and weaknesses in order to support performance and career development.
- Prepare, review and discuss with staff individual performance appraisal reports.
- Manage the department’s resources, including assisting with the recruitment of staff.
- Education: You hold a professional qualification CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent, which serves as a foundation for the technical expertise required in this role.

Skills:
You possess strong leadership qualities with experience in managing teams and a portfolio of clients. You will provide support and guidance to junior staff on a technical and educational basis. - Technical
Skills:
You will have excellent knowledge of the effect of taxes on a set of accounts and the technical aspects concerning a set of limited company accounts. You will be fully conversant with all current appropriate auditing and accounting practice. - Communication
Skills:
Your exceptional presentation and communication skills enable you to convey complex information clearly and engagingly across all levels of the organisation and to clients. You will maintain ongoing client relationships and deliver the highest standard of service. - Adaptability and Innovative Thinking: You can adapt to changing business needs and have a flair for thinking creatively to solve issues that may arise.
