CORE Business Manager

Join Barclays as a CORE Business Manager within PBWM Operations, where you will play a pivotal role in driving the financial, operational, and strategic management of a global function. This role sits at the heart of the COO organisation, acting as a trusted partner to senior leadership (Director/MD level), ensuring the business is operating efficiently, aligned to strategy, and delivering against its financial and operational objectives.

You will combine financial oversight, strategic insight, and executive communication, acting as both a controller and a storyteller—translating complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders.

You will provide vital business and financial management support, ensuring the global operations team runs efficiently and remains aligned with strategic goals:

• Financial & Budgetary Control
• Monthly Oversight: Act as the primary gatekeeper for the Senior Stakeholders’ budget, performing reconciliations to ensure the department stays within its annual targets.
• Variance Analysis: Track "Actuals vs. Forecast," investigating and explaining discrepancies in monthly spend.
• Hiring Validation: Manage headcount by vetting every hiring request to ensure it is financially backed and strategically necessary.
• Management Reporting & Executive Presentation
• High-Impact Presentations: Use PowerPoint to translate complex cost data and operational information into clear, visually engaging presentations that are easy for any stakeholder to digest.
• Executive Storytelling: Write and review global team achievements into polished weekly updates for Senior Stakeholders, ensuring the value of the team is clearly articulated.
• Digital Innovation: Utilize Microsoft Co-pilot and other AI tools to enhance reporting efficiency and content creation.
• Comms, Engagement & Strategic Liaison
• Stakeholder Challenge: Act as a central link within Operations and COO. You must be comfortable communicating with Senior Leaders and providing a constructive challenge when hiring or spending does not align with the budget.
• Engagement Strategy: Lead the "culture" agenda by organising engagement activities, selecting locations, and analysing recognition data to drive morale.

To be successful as a CORE Business Manager, you should have:

• Advanced Microsoft Office: Expert-level proficiency in Excel (for complex data analysis) and Power Point (for creating engaging, senior-level presentations).
• Experience with Co-pilot: Ability to leverage AI tools to streamline workflows and improve the quality of departmental communications.
• Effective Communication (Written & Verbal): Exceptional writing skills and the confidence to present to, and challenge, senior leadership when necessary.
• Analytical Clarity: The ability to take "dry" financial data and present it in a way that is simple, clear, and engaging for a non-financial audience.
• Organisation: Ability to manage a fast-paced diary, starting with daily morning stand-ups to address shifting global priorities.
