The Glasgow Academy is seeking an exceptional Business and Estates Manager to play a pivotal role in the effective, forward‑looking management of our operational and physical environment. About the RoleReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, and working closely with the Facilities Manager and senior colleagues, you will help shape and deliver the Academy’s estates and operational strategy. You will translate pupil‑roll projections into practical estates planning, ensuring capacity, infrastructure, and facilities evolve in a timely and well‑considered way.
This role provides a vital link between strategic planning and day‑to‑day delivery. You will coordinate projects, oversee compliance and governance, manage resources, and ensure the smooth operation of multiple school sites. The position requires a proactive, organised individual with strong attention to detail, excellent judgement, and the ability to anticipate needs and manage competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the effective management, compliance, and strategic development of the Academy’s estates and operational functions.
- Work in close partnership with the Facilities Manager, providing strategic coordination, governance oversight, and reporting.
- Ensure robust systems, processes, and reporting frameworks are in place to support safe, compliant, and efficient use of facilities.
- Contribute to strategic planning, income generation, and governance activities.
- Act as a key point of coordination between internal teams, senior leadership, and external providers.
- Support project planning and delivery, including longer‑term development and statutory approvals.
- Help ensure the Academy is well prepared to meet both current needs and future demand across its estate.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships across academic, operational, and external teams.
