This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced pensions professional to take ownership of a portfolio of client data projects, working across Defined Benefit (DB), Defined Contribution (DC) and CARE pension arrangements. You'll play a key role in delivering complex pensions data projects while building strong client relationships, leading project delivery and supporting the continued growth of the Data Journey team.

The Role

As a Client Manager, you will oversee the successful delivery of pensions data projects, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements, client expectations and agreed commercial objectives. Acting as the primary contact for your portfolio of clients, you'll work closely with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered accurately, on time and within budget.

Commercial & Project Delivery
  • Scope, cost and deliver projects in line with agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Drive commercial performance by managing profitability and controlling project scope.
  • Prepare and manage client billing.
  • Identify opportunities to expand Data Journey services.
  • Support business development and contribute to client growth.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across your client portfolio.
  • Manage client expectations through proactive communication.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee project delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure seamless service.
  • Prepare for and attend client meetings, following up on actions and outcomes.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead by example and foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture.
  • Support resource planning and recruitment activity.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members.
  • Encourage knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Provide line management support, including performance and wellbeing discussions.
Technical & Operational Delivery
  • Ensure projects are delivered to a consistently high standard.
  • Monitor progress across multiple client projects.
  • Maintain compliance with quality standards, professional regulations and information security requirements.
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK Defined Benefit pensions and pensions legislation.
  • Experience delivering complex pensions projects, including GMP Equalisation and insurer transactions.
  • A proven track record of managing client relationships and delivering projects successfully.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A collaborative leadership style with experience supporting and developing others.
  • A proactive approach and a genuine focus on delivering excellent client outcomes.

Professional qualifications such as Associate Membership of the Pensions Management Institute (or working towards this) would be advantageous but are not essential. Candidates with strong UK pensions experience and a willingness to continue developing professionally are encouraged to apply.

Applications are also welcomed from individuals who may not meet every requirement but can demonstrate the potential to develop within the role.

In return, you'll receive:
  • Salary of £49,000 - £65,000 DOE
  • Flexible benefits package
  • Hybrid working (2 office days per week)
  • Flexible working hours between 7am and 7pm
  • Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
  • Mentoring and access to a comprehensive learning portal
  • Mental health and wellbeing support
  • Three paid volunteering days each year
  • Birthday leave
  • A collaborative and supportive working environment with genuine career progression opportunities

Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so early application is encouraged.
