Role Description The Senior Project Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow, responsible for leading complex engineering and construction projects from initiation through completion. This role oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation to ensure delivery on time, within scope, and in line with safety and quality standards. The Senior Project Manager coordinates multidisciplinary teams, manages client relationships, facilitates stakeholder communication, and ensures alignment with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include tracking project progress, resolving issues, leading project meetings, preparing status reports, and driving continuous improvement in processes and performance. The role also involves mentoring project team members, supporting business development activities, and contributing to the firm’s culture of ownership and community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management for complex engineering or construction projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, mentoring staff, and fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management abilities, including negotiation, relationship-building, and clear, professional communication.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software, with solid analytical skills to interpret data, monitor performance, and support decision-making.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety standards, quality assurance practices, and regulatory requirements relevant to engineering and construction projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Prince2) are advantageous.
  • Experience working in an on-site project environment, preferably within the AEC sector; familiarity with UK or local Glasgow regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to operate with an ownership mindset, manage multiple concurrent projects or work streams, and adapt to changing priorities and client needs.
