Anderson Knight are seeking an exceptional Director of Finance & Governance to join our clients Executive Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of a high profile charitable organisation delivering valued public services and community impact. This role will shape strategy, drive innovation and strengthen governance.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, this is a broad and influential executive leadership position with responsibility for financial stewardship, corporate governance, risk management, compliance, assurance and corporate services.
You will provide strategic advice to the Board and Executive Team, ensuring robust governance, long term financial sustainability and a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement.
The Role As a key member of the Executive Team, you will:- Lead the organisation’s financial strategy, planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management.
- Provide expert financial insight and commercial analysis to support strategic decision-making and organisational sustainability.
- Act as principal adviser to the Chief Executive and Board on governance, financial performance, risk and compliance.
- Serve as Company Secretary, ensuring effective governance arrangements and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Lead corporate risk management, assurance frameworks, business continuity planning and audit activity.
- Oversee procurement, contract management, insurance arrangements and key corporate services functions.
- Ensure the highest standards of ethical conduct, transparency and accountability across the organisation.
- Build and lead high-performing teams, driving a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Develop strong partnerships with key stakeholders, funders, regulators and public sector partners.
We are looking for an accomplished senior leader with a strong track record in finance, governance and organisational leadership within a complex environment.
You will bring:- A relevant degree and professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CA, CIMA) or corporate governance qualification.
- Significant executive level leadership experience with accountability to Boards and senior stakeholders.
- Extensive expertise in financial strategy, treasury management, business planning and statutory reporting.
- Proven experience of governance, risk management, compliance and assurance frameworks.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate complex financial and operational information into strategic insight.
- Experience of leading organisational change, transformation and service improvement.
- Outstanding communication, influencing and relationship building skills.
- A collaborative leadership style combined with sound judgement, integrity and resilience.
Experience with in the public, charitable or not for profit sector, and an understanding of working within regulated environments, would be advantageous.
