General Summary

The role of the Coppersmith / Pipefitter is to fabricate and weld pipework to drawing specifications and ensure traceability during the Non‑Destructive Testing process. Build and develop a close relationship with the NDT department and work to ASME 9 welding code.

Key Accountabilities
  • Fabricate and weld pipework to drawing specifications and to planned schedule as directed by line manager.
  • Experienced in small to medium size fabrication of pipework, assemblies and structures.
  • Work to WPSs, Health and safety, and welds up to X‑ray quality.
  • Able to work in a small team, with quality and time pressures, self‑motivated.
  • Obtain materials from store areas including manual lifting and handling up to 30 kg.
  • Maintain internal relationships.
Key Deliverables / Performance Indicators
  • Material identification and allocation.
  • Material deliveries.
  • Document control.
Education / Experience
  • TIG, MIG, FCAW, MMA preferred.
  • ASME IX, BS EN 15609/15614 level considered.
  • Existing trade test certificates (LRQA, DNV, etc.) beneficial.

Physical Demands
  • Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (specific close vision abilities are required to perform computer work).
  • Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • Required daily to use hands and fingers and arms to reach (to operate a computer and telephone).
  • Required occasionally to lift and/or move objects that are light to moderate.
  • Required occasionally to travel (usually by air or road so may be required to sit for extended periods).
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work with moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, etc.).
  • Ability to work in an open planned office / individual office.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
