Position: Thread mill Operator / Manual Turner

General Summary

The Manual Turner / Thread mill Operator will be responsible for manual turning, threadmill operation, and machinery upkeep, as well as dressing screwsets and inspecting finished goods to maintain process control. Safety codes and health standards will be followed at all times.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate all Thread mill machines and any future machinery.
  • De‑burr screwsets and match idlers and rotors.
  • Review and update setups and working methods / procedures including SOPs.
  • Learn and operate various manual machinery (drill, mill, broach, etc.) to add flexibility.
  • Conduct quality‑assurance inspections of parts according to drawings and requirements.
  • Maintain equipment efficiency records.
  • Perform safety and housekeeping tasks.
  • Set up machines as required.
  • Maintain machines daily and perform preventative maintenance tasks where needed.
  • Participate in EHS activities, including risk assessments within manufacturing.
  • Engage in continuous‑improvement activities to drive process enhancements.
  • Provide training to peers and apprentices and participate in further training.
  • Implement and improve the company’s quality system.
  • Work in other areas as required.
Desired Skills / KPIs
  • Proficiency in material removal (turning, cylindrical grinding, milling).
  • Time‑serving apprenticeship in manufacturing, NC/HMC level or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing drawings and processes.
  • Strong numeracy and mathematical skills.
  • Capability to operate manual machinery including jib cranes.

Physical Demands
  • Required daily to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, and see (computer work).
  • Required occasionally to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Required daily to use hands, fingers, and arms to reach to operate a computer and telephone.
  • Required occasionally to lift and/or move light to moderate objects.
  • Required occasionally to travel (usually by air or road; may sit for extended periods).
Working Conditions
  • Ability to work with moderate noise (office, computers, phone, printers).
  • Ability to work in an open‑planned office / individual office.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit in a car or on a plane for extended periods.
