Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join out client in South Ayrshire, who are a leader in there industry. Your role will be to maintain and repair industrial machinery in a fast‑paced production environment. You'll work on a wide range of equipment, carrying out planned maintenance, troubleshooting breakdowns and ensuring safe, reliable plant performance.

• Mechanical maintenance on mills, presses, dryers, conveyors and material‑handling equipment
• Fault finding and carrying out safe, effective repairs
• Working with hydraulics & pneumatics - cylinders, valves, pumps, actuators
• Maintaining rotating equipment - gearboxes, bearings, couplings, fans
• Supporting process equipment including boilers, pumps and thermal systems
• Using CMMS to manage and record maintenance tasks
• Working safely under PTW, LOTO and site safety procedures

• Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship
• Experience in manufacturing or heavy industry
• Strong mechanical fault‑finding skills
• Experience with hydraulics & pneumatics
• Ability to read engineering drawings and P&IDs
• Proactive, safety‑focused mindset

• Experience in biomass, wood processing, pellet plants or other industrial environments.
