Job Title
Fabricator
- Plater
£38,662 per annum + shift allowance + overtime.

OverviewWe currently have a vacancy to join one of the world's leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Fabricator
- Plater. The role will be based in Glasgow and will require the successful candidate to be on site full time working a varied shift pattern.
- Day Shift: Monday-Thursday 7.00am-4.30pm
- Night Shift: Monday-Thursday 8.30pm-6.00am
- Weekend Shift: Friday-Sunday 7am-7.30pm
- Interpreting engineering drawings
- Marking-off materials
- Plate perforation using different methods (Oxy - fuel gas cutting & Hand Grinding)
- Assembling ship structures: shell, decks, bulkheads, frames, & longitudinals
- Fit, fair and tack weld steelwork using fairing aids
- Fabrication of ship items: seats, ladders, false flooring & panels
- Outfitting ship items: fitting of hatches, watertight doors, equipment seats & false flooring
- Forming material using machine tools:
Rolling, Flanging & Cutting machines (guillotine, cropper mechanical saw)
- Shift allowance of 33% on both night and weekend shifts
- Overtime pay rates:
- Monday-Thursday: 1.33 (Time and a 3rd)
- Friday: 1.5 (Time and a half for the first 4 hours and 2.00 (Double time) for any hours thereafter)
- Saturday: 1.5 (Time and a half)
- Sunday: 2.00 (Double time)

- Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and a minimum SVQ 3 or equivalent
- Current knowledge and experience in fabrication
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Ability to tack weld
- Oxy-fuel and/or plasma cutting ability
- Clear understanding of SHE and risk assessment
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and/or at height
- Safety certification (SHE induction, risk assessment, working at height, etc.)
- Background in a major construction / manufacturing environment
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
