General Summary
To work as part of a team, carrying out supporting the manufacture of our engineered‑to‑order pumps for Original Equipment (OE) and aftermarket jobs. Working efficiently to produce quality product and workmanship within applicable timeframe. Help with continuous improvement within areas to improve flow and drive down costs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Identify piece parts to drawings and manufacture accordingly
- Help to prepare steel or other metal plates and sections for manufacture of a variety of products
- Work with various thicknesses of metal plate ranging from 5mm to over 100mm
- Operate heavy‑duty guillotines to cut plates, oxyacetylene flame cutters for curves and complex shapes and utilise rollers/presses to curve and bend plates
- Weld or bolt completed plates to fabricate the finished product
- Cut and shape thin sheets of metal using hand and machine saws, metal cutters and small presses and rollers to create bends and curves
- Read and interpret engineering drawings
- Measure and mark out plates and sections for cutting, shaping and drilling
- Operate plate cutting machines and edge preparation machines
- Operate roll‑bending machines and presses to form and shape plates and sections, guiding cranes and hoists for moving and assembling plates
- Operate CNC computer‑controlled and hand‑controlled machines
- Operate band saws to cut material to size and drilling machines to form holes as required
- Work to a high standard of quality, safety awareness and housekeeping
- Prepare and fabricate or modify in‑situ pipework for pump test
- Support welding activities as and when required
- Maintain material traceability and identify components accordingly
- Maintain department flexibility and assist with or complete other jobs as required – training will be given
- Conduct stock takes on material and move material as required
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Comply with all company HS&E policies
- Maintain all documentation, both paper and electronic as required
- Up to 3 years relevant experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing
- Understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques
- Team player with high level of energy and commitment to participate in and implement change
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
