General SummaryAs part of the Celeros Operations Management team, the Fabrication & Welding Supervisor manages the technical aspects of the welding/fabrication area to ensure compliance with EN and ASME codes and is accountable for the safe and efficient operation of the weld/fabrication and pipe shop areas.
Principle Duties And Responsibilities (essential Functions)On an ongoing basis the Fabrication & Welding Supervisor assumes full responsibility for the following:
Welding Technical Authority Principal Duties- Compilation of Procedure Qualification Records, Weld Procedure Specifications and selection of appropriate weld consumables as required
- Compilation and issue of purchase requisitions for all welding consumables and welding qualification test materials
- Coordination and supervision of welding qualification tests, seeking approval from third parties and issuing reports upon completion of tests
- Serve as subject matter expert in welding qualification and processes, managing technical queries internally and externally
- Maintain a qualified welder list and organize training and upgrading of welders in accordance with procedure and customer requirements
- Control and issue welding material
- Maintain an overview of welding and fabrication operations to ensure compliance with procedures
- Manage instrument and equipment calibration records and arrange for calibration in accordance with policy
- Maintain a positive, safe working environment and uphold housekeeping standards
- Lead and manage daily stand‑up meetings, communicating safety moments, toolbox talks and work priorities
- Maintain and communicate data performance and information boards to employees, colleagues, customers and other managers
- Drive KPI results while adhering to company values
- Promote a proactive and sustainable 5S culture within the cell
- Coach, develop and performance‑manage cell team members
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures
- Monitor and control actual versus estimated operation times
- Identify and implement operational improvements
- Schedule production in line with the weld area plan and business forecast
- Liaise with quality, engineering, inspection, planning, purchasing and other support functions to resolve issues
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives across areas of responsibility
- Ensure adherence to start/stop and break times and overtime controls
- Manage material workflow and booking discipline
- Ensure self‑inspection procedures are fully followed
- Ensure end‑of‑line goods are high quality, raising any concerns promptly
- Deliver regular communications to team members
- Conduct periodic audits required by EHS and Quality departments
- Raise NCRs as needed
- Perform other duties deemed reasonable, including ad‑hoc welding when necessary
- Provide training and support to all welding and fabrication apprentices
- Lead and manage all employees positively, driving engagement and motivation
- Create a trusted relationship with team members, supporting personal aspirations and objectives
- Conduct coaching conversations to identify strengths and development areas
- Help broaden networks and identify challenging roles for career progression
- Create and maintain a competency matrix, training and development plans, and succession plans with HR support
- Address health and wellbeing support, sickness absence, and follow company policy
- Support performance and development planning, and manage performance issues
- Proven track record in building effective teams and driving operational goals
- Strong focus on delivery and bottom line results under pressure
