Vehicle Assembly Technician

18 - 21 per hour | East Kilbride | 40 hours | Monday-Friday | Permanent

We are recruiting experienced Vehicle Assembly Technicians / Mechanical Technicians for a specialist vehicle manufacturer based in East Kilbride.

This is a hands-on, varied position working within low-volume vehicle manufacturing rather than a repetitive production-line environment.

You'll work across different stages of the vehicle build, including mechanical assembly, systems integration, electrical fitment, inspection, testing, diagnostics and fault rectification.

Responsibilities
  • Mechanical assembly and fitting of vehicle components and systems
  • Build vehicle modules and sub-assemblies
  • Fit panels, brackets, fasteners, seals, hoses and pipework
  • Install low-voltage wiring, connectors and sensors
  • Work from engineering drawings, build instructions and specifications
  • Use hand tools, power tools and calibrated torque tools
  • Carry out quality inspections and build checks
  • Test mechanical, electrical and fluid systems
  • Diagnose and rectify build faults
  • Support prototype, first-off and development builds
  • Complete build, inspection and quality documentation
  • Work closely with engineering and production teams
Experience

We're keen to speak with candidates from backgrounds including:

Vehicle Technician | Mechanical Fitter | Assembly Technician | HGV Technician | Plant Fitter | Automotive Technician | Mechanical Technician | Vehicle Builder

Experience could come from automotive, commercial vehicles, HGV, plant, agricultural equipment, defence, specialist vehicles or complex manufacturing.

You'll need:

  • Strong hands-on mechanical skills
  • Experience using hand and power tools
  • Ability to work from technical instructions or drawings
  • Good mechanical fault-finding ability
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong approach to quality and safety
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience with vehicle electrical systems, wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics, braking, steering, driveline or diagnostics would be advantageous.

The environment is varied. You may move between vehicle assembly, systems integration, inspection, testing and fault rectification depending on the build requirements.

18 - 21 per hour
40 hours per week, Monday-Friday
