Engagement Assistant

This role will bridge Marketing and Commercial Services departments. It will support both departments in delivering social media content and will help boost student engagement through in-person activations.

This role will help play a part in bringing commercial services into a more developed brand architecture and to work alongside wider campaign’s integrated marketing plans.

This role will be line managed by Head of Marketing & Communications, and receive additional supervision from the Commercial Team.

You need to be a University of Salford graduate within the last two years.

• Creating content for Students’ Union commercial outlets (Atmosphere / The Coffee Hut, and any additional outlets) – including assisting with videography projects.
• Managing commercial social channels and scheduling content in line with direction from the Commercial Management Team. Social listening, including responding to users, interacting with organisation mentions online and interacting with affiliated stakeholders through correct social accounts.
• Assisting with the communication duties for onsite commercial activations.
• Organising marketing onsite SU activations and in‑person marketing activity with the aim of increasing student engagement outside of digital marketing.
• Support and guide Student Content Creators (pool across Commercial and Marketing).
• Assisting with content for Salford SU and Team Salford accounts.
• Working alongside the Marketing and Communications Team to deliver strategic integrated marketing campaigns.
• Help deliver internal communications for the organisation in line with the new internal communications strategy, with direction from the Head of Marketing and Communication and Head of HR & Administration.
• Support the Commercial team and Graphic Designer with design and venue décor changes; maintain and deliver developments within the brand for Atmosphere and The Coffee Hut.

• Support and offer guidance to other departments and colleagues on best practice in social media and content production and in the correct and effective use of our brand and tone of voice.
• Engage, inspire and manage student communities online and face‑to‑face, supporting Student Officers and Student Leaders to achieve their objectives.
• Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the Union, University and other partners, helping the Head of Marketing and Communications, and the Venue Manager, to build a strong link between our two departments.
• Support Salford SU with delivering their organisational goal of tackling student loneliness.

• Adhere to all policies and procedures, and ensure all marketing and social media content is fully compliant with Salford SU and relevant University policy, legislation including the Education Act, GDPR, licensing law and health and safety.

• Help our Full Time Officers achieve their manifesto commitments.
• Aware of both teams’ strive to improve engagement across digital marketing and across SU services.
• Actively engage in student‑facing projects and activities of all kinds as required.
• Be an enthusiastic advocate for student leadership and the organisation’s values and brand story.
• Maintain your own professional networks and promote the Union on a local and national level.
