The Scottish Women’s Premier League (SWPL) is responsible for the top two women’s domestic leagues in Scotland, as well as the League Cup competition. The SWPL promotes these competitions, with an overarching aim of increasing visibility of the women’s game in Scotland and with a view to driving new audiences, increasing fan engagement and supporting the 20 SWPL Clubs in their efforts to increase matchday attendances.

Since 2022, the SWPL has seen rapid growth and the profile of the League continues to grow in this new era of women’s football in Scotland.

About the Role

The SWPL is seeking to recruit a Communications and Content Officer, who is proactive, highly organised and committed to playing a key role in enhancing the profile and reputation of the Scottish Women’s Premier League.

Reporting to the Head of Operations and Partnerships, the Communications and Content Officer will support with planning and lead on the delivery of the SWPL’s communications activity, acting as a key point of contact for media, clubs, partners, sponsors and external agencies. This role will involve managing media relations, coordinating communications campaigns, supporting activation of commercial and broadcast partnerships, and overseeing the delivery of communications activity across a range of stakeholders.

Alongside this, the Communications and Content Officer will develop and manage engaging content across the SWPL’s digital platforms, including social media and website, ensuring a consistent and professional brand presence that drives audience engagement and supports the SWPL’s growth ambitions. As such, an interest in women’s football is essential.

As with any small team, a collaborative approach will be essential. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate an ability to work independently and have a confident and professional demeanour at all times. A full job description is detailed below.

The role is usually based at Barclays Hampden, Glasgow but flexibility and the ability to travel within Scotland will be required. Given the nature of the role, the successful candidate will be required to undertake work on SWPL matchdays (usually a Sunday), including on occasion some evenings.
