St Barnabas is a welcoming and inclusive parish Church in a vibrant, diverse and busy suburb about 5 miles Northeast of Birmingham City Centre. It is located on the busy High Street of Birmingham and is actively serving local people each day of the week through our community hub. The patron and the Bishop of Birmingham are seeking a Christ Centered, collaborative and missional priest to be our next incumbent.

We are an inclusive Eucharistic parish with a vibrant and growing congregation that is committed to sharing the hope and good news of Jesus to all come through our doors. The parish has a strong team of willing lay and ordained ministers, paid staff and volunteers, who seek to be a growing church and revitalising Church at the heart of its local community and the wider Erdington Oversight Area.

A spacious and pleasant modern vicarage is provided.

The ideal candidate will be:
  • An inspiring collaborative and inclusive leader who has good communication and people skills and can build good and effective teams
  • Organised, focused, and hospitable to those within and beyond existing congregations and networks
  • Able to appreciate and enjoy ministry in a busy, diverse and sometimes challenging local context
  • Help the parish realise its missional ambitions whilst retaining a compassionate focus on those who are most in need within the parish
  • Like St Barnabas: an encourager of the gifts and ministries of others, strengthening the capacity and ability of individuals and teams in the parish to grow in depth, strength and compassion
