Job Description & How to Apply Below

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

This dynamic and fast‑paced unit provides unscheduled care to patients with oncological or haematological malignancies who become acutely unwell either while attending outpatient or day‑case treatment areas, or following referral from home via the Cancer Treatment Helpline (CTH). The AOAU operates under a nurse‑led model of care, supported by a team of experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs). The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, patient‑centred care within the unit, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to assess, manage, and support patients requiring urgent oncology input.

Where clinically appropriate, patients are managed as day cases and discharged home, ensuring timely and effective care. The post holder will work within the nursing and multi‑professional team to ensure a high standard of care to patients in the AOAU and to patients and staff calling the Beatson Cancer Treatment Helpline. Competently perform the necessary communication and technical/invasive/physical aspects of care for this patient group.
