The RoleWe are looking for an experienced registered nurse with a first‑level adult nursing degree to join our out‑of‑hours evening service as a community band 5 staff nurse. Applicants must have significant nursing experience, demonstrable leadership and communication skills, and evidence of continuing professional development. They should be passionate about a career in community services and able to work autonomously within a dynamic environment as part of the wider health and social care partnership.
A clean current driving licence and access to own car is required.
- This is a permanent, part‑time, 12 hours per week.
- Location:
Milend Centre, Seedhill Road, PA1 1SA. - Shift pattern: 3 evenings (1730‑2130) over 7 days, including weekends and public holidays.
- Salary is pro rata for part‑time hours.
- The post holder may be required to assume responsibility of the caseload holder during short periods of sickness, absence or annual leave, seeking support as required from other senior district nursing members.
- The post holder will be responsible for the utilisation of various clinical and environmental risk assessment tools to identify actual and potential risks and ensure implementation of appropriate interventions.
- The post holder will be responsible for reporting and participating in the critical appraisal of incidents to reduce any recurrences and participate in further investigation as required.
- As a member of the district nursing team the post holder will support patients, families and carers to achieve optimum health and independence.
- Plan and prioritise workload, delegate work using available resources, and make decisions to ensure that patients’ needs are being met.
- Work within systems to ensure continuation of a quality 24‑hour nursing service.
- The post holder may be required to provide care of patients within a treatment room or health centre setting.
- The post holder will use a systematic, flexible and innovative approach to problem‑solving where there is a barrier to understanding or financial constraints within the patient’s home, to provide a safe and effective care package.
- Participate in clinical audit and research to ensure continuing improvements in practice and enhance individual and team performance for the improvement of patient care.
- Part 1 NMC Registration
- Level 2 Registration with general nursing experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of revalidation
- IT skills – word processing, email, internet
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Leadership skills
- Problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Full driving licence
