NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our General Surgery team within the South Sector. This role provides the chance to work in a fast‑paced acute surgical environment, delivering high‑quality, compassionate care to patients with a wide range of surgical needs. You will be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team focused on safe, effective and person‑centred care.

- Based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
- Full Time, Permanent.
- Shift Pattern:
Monday to Sunday, including days, nights and 12‑hour shifts.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual programmes of care to deliver high standards of nursing care.
- Provide safe, effective postoperative and acute surgical care to patients and support their recovery.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate, timely patient records in line with professional and organisational standards.
- Supervise, support, and mentor students and less experienced staff within the clinical area.
- Contribute to the day‑to‑day organisation of the ward, ensuring effective use of resources.
- Promote a safe clinical environment by adhering to infection prevention, health, and safety policies.
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent recognised qualification.
- Knowledge of acute surgical nursing care and common general surgical conditions.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in a busy clinical environment.
- Strong communication, organisational, and time management skills.
- Commitment to continuing professional development and revalidation requirements.
- Ability to deliver compassionate patient‑centred care in line with NHSGGC values.
