Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Permanent, Full‑time

Base location – Glasgow Royal Infirmary

Shift pattern – Monday to Saturday (long days) Twilight shift Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of evidence‑based patient care.
  • Deputise for the Senior Charge Nurse, coordinating the unit and leading the nursing team to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Supervise, support and develop nursing staff, promoting a positive and learning‑focused environment.
  • Ensure high standards of care, governance, infection prevention and control and compliance within the unit.
  • Manage resources effectively, including staffing, equipment and rota planning.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with NMC standards and organisational policies.
  • Contribute to audit, research, service improvement and the development of renal services.
Qualifications and Experience
  • First‑level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Proven experience within renal nursing with competence in haemodialysis.
  • Evidence of leadership experience and ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Educated to degree level with ongoing professional development.
  • Excellent communication, decision‑making and organisational skills.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance, infection control, and NHS policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively within a fast‑paced and ever‑changing environment.

Flexible Working

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part‑time working hours will be reduced on a pro‑rated basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
