Clinical Nurse Specialist In Epilepsy - Regional Services

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist in Epilepsy to join our specialist Neurology service. This is a rewarding autonomous role supporting adults with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities across NHSGGC, helping to improve outcomes, reduce risk and enhance quality of life. You will deliver highly specialist clinical assessment, develop personalised epilepsy management and rescue care plans, and work closely with patients, families and carers.

• Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

• Work as part of a specialist clinical team under the leadership of the Lead Nurse and supervision of the Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, delivering safe, effective and evidence based epilepsy care
• Provide highly specialist assessment and management for people with epilepsy, including targeted patient groups, using a person-centred and interdisciplinary approach
• Undertake pretreatment counselling and screening, supporting patients, families and carers to make informed decisions about care and treatment
• Monitor therapy and clinical response, identifying side effects, risks and changes in condition, and adjusting care plans in collaboration with medical colleagues
• Provide timely urgent interventions and admissionavoidance consultations to reduce risk and improve patient outcomes
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary and partner services to ensure coordinated, high quality care across community and specialist settings within NHSGGC

• Registered Adult Nurse with current NMC registration, with significant postregistration experience (experience within the relevant speciality is desirable)
• Significant relevant experience working within a Neurology Service, with the knowledge and skills to competently deliver the technical, invasive, physical and psychosocial aspects of care for this defined patient group
• Neurology experience is advantageous, though not essential, with exposure to the role of a Clinical Nurse Specialist considered beneficial
• Ability to work independently and autonomously, demonstrating sound clinical judgement while managing a complex caseload
• Excellent communication skills, with experience managing collaborative telephone advice lines, triage of incoming calls, and effective interface with hospital clinicians and General Practitioners
• Strong IT and clinical documentation skills, with the ability to support and facilitate service change to improve patient outcomes and ensure safe, effective and person-centred care at every opportunity
