The role:

As a Band 5 Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering safe, effective and person‑centred care to patients with acute and complex medical conditions within a busy inpatient environment. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality and patient experience are maintained. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic acute medical setting, caring for patients with a wide range of healthcare needs while contributing to service improvement, patient safety and collaborative multidisciplinary working.

Key responsibilities:

The postholder will provide high‑quality nursing care to patients with acute and complex medical conditions, undertaking assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in partnership with patients, families and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will maintain a strong focus on patient safety, clinical effectiveness and delivering a positive patient experience. The role involves working collaboratively with colleagues across disciplines, supporting service development initiatives, contributing to quality improvement activities and ensuring care is delivered in accordance with professional standards, evidence‑based practice and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde values.

Knowledge,

training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential:
  • First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, person‑centred care.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to evidence‑based practice and continuous professional development.
  • Understanding of patient safety principles and quality care standards.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience within an acute inpatient setting.
  • Experience caring for patients with acute and complex medical conditions.
  • Participation in service improvement or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of NHS policies, procedures and professional standards.
