The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Emergency Department at the RHC as a clinical nurse educator in an 18 month fixed term post.

The department is a busy and fast paced paediatric emergency department seeing in excess of 75000 children each year who present with a wide range of medical, surgical, orthopaedic and other speciality needs, ranging for minor medical and surgical illness through to Major trauma. The main aspects of this post is to work alongside the nursing team to provide training and education and to ensure governance around care delivery.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills are paramount to this role. Extensive IT skills are required to capture all aspects of training needs and achievements ensuring the highest standards of care are delivered in line with NHSGGGC policy and standards.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

This is a fixed term, full-time post of 36 hours.

The role is based at the Royal Hospital for Children.

The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, day shift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, provide and implement educational services for all nurses covering all grades within the Emergency Department.
  • In partnership with clinical practice design, implement and evaluate a competency based education and training programme for all grades of nursing staff.
  • Ensure all training targets are met as required to deliver the care of the child within the Emergency Department.
  • Work under pressure and prioritise workloads to meet targets relating to clinical issues.
  • The post holder will work in the Emergency Department alongside the Senior Charge Nurse to deliver a competency based framework to children/young people and their families.
