Staff Nurse - Paediatric Haematology​/Oncology Day Care Unit

Are you a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Day Care Unit within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, providing specialist care to children and families across the West of Scotland. Working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high-quality, holistic care to patients with a range of haematology and oncology conditions, including those undergoing stem cell transplantation.

• Paediatric haemato-oncology day unit, Ward 2B Schiehallion Day Care, Royal Hospital for Children
• Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 19:30
• Fixed-term for 12 months
• Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part‑time hours

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate high-quality nursing care for children and young people attending the Paediatric Haematology/Oncology Day Care Unit
• Deliver holistic care that supports the physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing of patients and their families throughout treatment
• Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and individualised patient care
• Participate in specialised treatments and procedures, including chemotherapy administration and the care of patients undergoing stem cell transplant pathways once appropriately trained and competent
• Provide education, support and guidance to children, families and carers to help them manage care safely both in hospital and at home
• Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to audit, quality improvement and evidence‑based practice initiatives
• Support the learning and development of students, newly qualified nurses and other members of the healthcare team

• Registered Nurse qualification with current NMC registration
• Ability to assess patient needs and deliver safe, effective and compassionate care within a specialist paediatric setting
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues
• Commitment to maintaining professional standards, continuing professional development and lifelong learning
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team while managing competing priorities in a busy clinical environment
• Understanding of evidence-based practice, clinical governance, audit and quality improvement principles
• Interest in developing specialist knowledge and skills within paediatric haematology, oncology and stem cell transplant services
