The role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Senior Health Care Support Worker within the Cardiology Ward
- Royal Hospital for Children.

We are looking for an enthusiastic highly motivated, dynamic, approachable and appropriately skilled individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be prepared to participate in ongoing learning.

Ward 1e is a 14 bedded inpatient ward providing National Cardiology Care for children and young people across Scotland Ward 1e.

The successful candidate will be SVQ level 3 or equivalent.

This is part time post with day / night rotation Shift pattern is 11.5 hrs including weekends.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
  • This is a part time role for 34.5
  • The shift pattern is day/night rotation, 11.5 hrs including weekends.
  • This post will be based at the Royal Hospital for Children
  • Please note the salary is Pro Rata for part time hours.
Key responsibilities:
  • 1. Assignment of work will be by Senior Charge Nurse / Registered Nursing Staff.
  • 2. The post holder will work supervised and exercise initiative within the scope of the role when providing patient care, however, a registered nurse will be available for advice and guidance.
  • 3. To provide patient care in support of a registered nurse to ensure delivery of a high quality of patient care.
  • 4. Record and report patient observations in care plans to ensure maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records.
  • 5. Accurate documentation of delivered and planned nursing care ensuring countersignature by registered nurse.
  • 6. Ensure patients receive appropriate help with feeding and complete fluid balance charts as necessary.
  • 7. Delivery of nasogastric feeding
  • 8. To provide patient pressure area care
  • 9. To top up from existing stock supplies and carry out housekeeping duties, to support the smooth running of the ward area.
  • 10. Co-operate with and maintain good relationships with other disciplines that are attending and treating patients to maximise patient care.
  • 11. Maintain good relationships and an empathic approach to patients' carers and relatives and refer them to a trained nurse for any questions they may have on the patients' condition or for any suggestions or complaints that they wish to raise.
  • 12. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
