Staff Nurse - Discharge Lounge

We are seeking a highly motivated 1st Level Registered Adult Nurse to join the Discharge Team within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, working across several Discharge Lounges on a board‑wide basis. The Discharge Lounge Service provides a safe and comfortable environment for medically stable patients awaiting discharge or transfer, supporting the efficient use of hospital beds while maintaining high standards of patient care.

This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is unable to provide candidates or employees with a Certificate of Sponsorship (COS).

Permanent, Part‑time 15 hours per week

Shift Pattern
- The discharge lounge is open Monday to Friday - 8 am-8 pm

(Will be 3 weeks of 1 12‑hour shift and 1 week of 2 shifts over a 4‑week rolling rota)

Base location
- Board‑wide role working across multiple Discharge Lounges within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde.

• Provide nursing care to patients awaiting discharge or transfer.
• Support the safe and effective operation of Discharge Lounges.
• Work collaboratively with Registered Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Contribute to the efficient flow of patients and optimal utilisation of hospital beds.
• Deliver high standards of patient care in a busy clinical environment.

• 1st Level Registered Adult Nurse qualification.
• Post‑registration experience.
• Acute nursing experience is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment.
• Strong organisational and patient care skills.
