Senior Community Mental Health Acute Care Service Nurse CMHACS

The North East Community Mental Health Acute Care Service (CMHACS) is seeking a Senior CMHACS Nurse to join its specialist seven-day mental health crisis service. The post holder will provide rapid assessment, intensive community-based treatment, and crisis intervention for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises. The role also involves providing clinical leadership, supporting junior staff, and helping deliver recovery-focused care within the community as an alternative to hospital admission where appropriate.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) may be able to provide visa sponsorship for certain roles, subject to the post meeting the relevant eligibility criteria. Skilled Worker visa and Health and Care Worker visa

Permanent, full‑time – 36 hours per week

Shift pattern – Two shifts per week: 9:00 am to 8:00 pm, Two shifts per week: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm – Three days off per week

Base location – Springpark Centre

• Deliver comprehensive mental health assessments for individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.
• Develop and implement treatment plans that support recovery and reduce hospital admissions.
• Provide intensive community-based interventions and crisis support.
• Facilitate safe alternatives to inpatient admission where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with inpatient services to support home passes and timely discharge planning.
• Provide clinical leadership and support to junior team members.
• Prioritise workload and resources effectively to meet service user needs.
• Ensure practice aligns with legal and ethical frameworks, professional standards, mental health legislation, and organisational policies.
• Supervise and support colleagues to deliver safe, effective, person‑centred care.
• Liaise closely with service users, carers, Community Mental Health Teams, inpatient services, Social Work services, third‑sector organisations, and partner agencies.

Essential

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
• Current NMC registration.

• Strong mental health assessment and risk management skills.
• Effective leadership and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
