Position: Endoscopy Staff Nurse - South Sector

The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Endoscopy Unit providing a wide range of diagnostic, therapeutic, and acute upper and lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures for both in-patients and out-patients. Working closely with Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, and Upper GI Surgery teams, you will be part of a highly skilled and motivated team committed to delivering safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.

As a Registered Nurse, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, working autonomously while maintaining the highest standards of specialist endoscopy nursing practice.

Key responsibilities:

As a key member of the Endoscopy team, you will provide specialist patient care throughout the patient journey, ensuring care is delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with professional standards and evidence-based practice. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care programmes, advocate for patients, provide specialist advice and support, and maintain accurate clinical records. You will contribute to the smooth running of the department by preparing and maintaining a safe clinical environment, ensuring equipment is available and fit for purpose, coordinating care with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the delivery of efficient services.

In addition, you will supervise and support junior staff, contribute to teaching and learning activities, participate in clinical supervision, and promote a culture of continuous professional development. The role also involves contributing to audit, service improvement, research activities, and the development of policies and procedures aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and service quality.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
Relevant post-registration nursing experience.
Knowledge of Endoscopy, Gastroenterology, and/or General Surgery is desirable.
Commitment to delivering evidence-based patient care.
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Experience of assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
Understanding of clinical governance, audit, and risk management principles.
Effective communication and organisational skills.
Ability to support, supervise, and develop junior staff.
Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Endoscopy-specific training will be provided for the successful candidate where required.
