Mixed Practice Veterinary Surgeon — Farm Bias
Strathspey Vets, Aviemore & Grantown-on-Spey

Are you a mixed practice vet looking for a role where you can enjoy varied clinical work, build lasting client relationships, and live in one of the most spectacular parts of the UK?

Strathspey Vets is looking for a Mixed Practice Veterinary Surgeon with a farm bias to join our friendly, community-focused team across our two branches in Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident all-rounder who enjoys the variety of mixed practice but has a particular interest in farm animal work. You’ll be joining a long-established practice at the heart of the local community, supporting a diverse client base across Strathspey and the wider Cairngorms area.

About us

Strathspey Vets is a well-established mixed practice, proudly serving the local community from our branches in Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey. We provide veterinary care for companion animals, farm clients and a wide range of local animal owners, with the variety and professional satisfaction that comes from true mixed practice.

Our team is approachable, supportive and committed to providing practical, high-quality care. We value strong relationships with our clients, continuity of care, and vets who enjoy being part of rural community life.

The role

We are looking for a vet who is happy to get stuck into all aspects of mixed practice, with a particular focus on farm work. The caseload will offer good variety, including farm animal work alongside small animal consultations, routine surgery and emergency care as part of the wider team.

This role would suit someone who:

  • Enjoys mixed practice and wants to maintain a broad clinical skill set
  • Has a genuine interest in farm animal work but is competent
  • Is confident, practical and client-focused
  • Communicates well with farmers, pet owners and colleagues
  • Enjoys being part of a close-knit, community-based practice
  • Values teamwork, professional development and a supportive working culture
Whether you are already experienced in farm work or looking to develop further in this area, we would be keen to hear from you.

Why Strathspey?

This is more than just a veterinary role - it’s an opportunity to live and work in the Cairngorms National Park, one of the most beautiful and active outdoor regions in the UK.

In the summer, you can make the most of hill walking, trail running, mountain biking, paddle boarding, wild swimming, kayaking, climbing, golf, fishing, wildlife watching and long evenings exploring the Spey valley.

In winter, the Cairngorms offers a very different kind of magic, with skiing, snowboarding, winter walking, snow-covered forests, dark skies, cosy local cafés, and some of the best access to mountain landscapes anywhere in Scotland.

Aviemore and Grantown-on-Spey offer a great balance of rural living, community spirit and access to outdoor adventure — ideal for someone who wants a fulfilling veterinary career without compromising on lifestyle.

What we offer
  • A varied mixed practice caseload with a farm bias
  • Supportive, experienced colleagues
  • A friendly and community-orientated working environment
  • The opportunity to build lasting relationships with local clients
  • Professional development and support to grow your areas of interest
  • An exceptional lifestyle location in the Cairngorms National Park
  • The chance to be part of a practice that plays an important role in local rural life
About you

You’ll be an MRCVS-registered veterinary surgeon who enjoys variety, values teamwork and understands the importance of building trusted relationships with clients. You’ll be practical, personable and motivated by doing a good job for animals, owners and the wider community.

A farm bias would be ideal, but just as important is the right attitude: someone who is enthusiastic, dependable, and keen to contribute to a supportive mixed practice team.

If you’re looking for a role that combines clinical variety, farm work, community practice and an unbeatable Highland lifestyle, we’d love to hear from you.
