Compensation: £40,000 - £50,000 / month

Description

OCU Group are one of the UK's fastest-growing utility and infrastructure engineering specialists, delivering critical projects across the power, energy, water, telecommunications, rail, and digital sectors.

As part of our continued growth within the renewable energy market, we are looking for an experienced Quality Advisor to support the successful delivery of our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving quality excellence across innovative energy infrastructure projects that are helping to shape a more sustainable future.

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Advisor will support the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of OCU's Integrated Management System (IMS) across our BESS portfolio.

Working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, you will ensure that quality standards, contractual requirements, and industry regulations are consistently met throughout the project lifecycle.

This role is primarily site-based and requires regular travel across the UK. You will provide practical quality assurance support, conduct audits and inspections, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and right first time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of OCU's Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance assessments across BESS projects.
  • Review and monitor quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), quality plans, and project records.
  • Identify, investigate, and support the closure of non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis and lessons learned activities.
  • Assist project teams in meeting contractual quality requirements and client expectations.
  • Support supplier and subcontractor quality assurance activities.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and prepare reports for project and senior management teams.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, quality ownership, and right-first-time delivery.
  • Support external audits, client audits, and certification activities.
  • Deliver quality guidance, coaching, and awareness training to operational teams.
  • Ensure effective document control and record retention practices are maintained.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

To be successful in this role, you will bring a proactive and collaborative approach, with a strong understanding of quality management principles and a passion for continuous improvement.

  • Previous experience in a Quality Advisor, Quality Assurance, or similar quality-focused role.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and compliance assessments.
  • Proven ability to investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and associated systems.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to project sites across the UK.
  • Experience with in utilities, power, renewable energy, construction, civil engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Knowledge of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), substations, ICP, EV, or wider electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Construction, Quality Management, or a related discipline.
