The successful candidate will support the health economics components of two large NIHR and UKRI projects. They will have a strong background in quantitative analysis, ideally with experience in economic evaluations of complex public health or social care interventions. The candidate will support complex and challenging HTA projects, contribute to the presentation and writing of research publications, and receive technical training on health technology assessment and a broad range of generic research skills.
MainDuties and Responsibilities
- Plan and undertake research activities under the supervision of the line manager or senior members of the HEHTA team.
- Develop and enhance your research profile and that of the University of Glasgow, School of Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment, enhancing research impact and gathering indicators of esteem.
- Liaise with collaborators within the research project, attend and contribute to research programme meetings, represent HEHTA, and facilitate progress on the programme.
- Undertake structured literature reviews to identify appropriate evidence, contribute to the design, drafting and adaptation of data collection tools.
- Document research outputs: maintain records and databases, analyze and interpret all data, draft technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate.
- Present work at international and national conferences, internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops.
- Support the identification of potential funding sources and aid in developing proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies.
- Support teaching activities within HEHTA (e.g., tutoring CPD courses) as assigned by the line manager.
- Engage in continuing professional development and remain up-to-date with current knowledge and recent advances in the discipline.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School or Director of the Research Institute.
- Contribute to enhancing the University’s international profile in line with its Strategic Plan.
- A1: SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree) in a relevant subject or cognate discipline, or equivalent.
- A2:
Knowledge of the disciplines of health economics and/or health technology assessment.
- B1:
An awarded (or recently submitted or near completion) PhD in the subject specialism or equivalent.
- C1: A basic understanding of statistics.
- C2: A basic understanding of the role of economic evaluation in healthcare decision-making.
- C3: A basic understanding of decision analytical modelling.
- C4:
Research creativity and cross‑discipline collaborative ability. - C5:
Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including public presentations and the ability to communicate complex data/concepts clearly and concisely. - C6:
Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork and a collegiate approach. - C7:

Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 – £37,694 per annum. This is a full‑time (35 hours per week) post with funding available for up to 12 months from start date.
