The University of Glasgow’s School of Infection & Immunity is seeking a talented Research Assistant/Research Associate to join its vibrant research community. This full-time, fixed-term role places the successful candidate within a team focused on advancing scientific understanding in infection biology and related health sciences. The post accommodates applicants at different stages: appointment as a Research Assistant is available for those with suitable postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience, while candidates with a PhD and a stronger research track record may be appointed as a Research Associate
, reflecting greater responsibility and autonomy.
In this multidisciplinary research environment, you will work under the guidance of academic leads to plan and conduct high-quality research projects, collaborate with colleagues across the University, and contribute to the School’s research outputs and objectives. You will play an active role in generating and interpreting scientific data, documenting findings, and supporting the development of research proposals and publications.
Eligibility CriteriaApplicants should hold either a relevant postgraduate qualification (for Research Assistant) or a PhD (for Research Associate) in a field closely aligned with infection and immunity research or related biomedical science disciplines. A strong academic record and demonstrable commitment to research are essential.
Require expertise, skillsSuccess in this role requires solid research skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently within a team. You should be able to design, carry out and analyse research investigations, maintain accurate research records, and participate in academic discourse through contributions to reports and scientific publications. Effective communication and time management skills are important for supporting project activities and fostering productive collaboration with peers.
Salarydetails
The post is offered on the University’s Grade 6/7 scale:
Research Assistant salaries range from £33,951 to £37,694 per annum
, and Research Associate salaries range from £41,064 to £46,049 per annum
, depending on experience and level of appointment.
