Through funding awarded by Youth Endowment Fund, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a postdoctoral researcher to join our team undertaking an exploration of trajectories into violent offending among women and girls. The project involves researchers from University of Hull, University of Bristol and University of the West of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating a series of field interviews with recruited individuals, gaining skills and experience in project management, data collection, data management and contributing to research and impact outputs/activities.

In addition to joining the project team, the researcher will join the School of Criminology, Politics and Law at University of Hull. The School works with knowledge exchange and research partners across the University in multidisciplinary groups, and we have excellent active links with local, national and international criminal justice organisations and practitioners.

We are seeking an energetic and organised postdoctoral researcher to coordinate the delivery of qualitative features of the project. With a PhD in a social science or significant experience coordinating social science research, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate passion for rigorous research methods, violence prevention, vulnerability, and an understanding of how people become involved in violence. The successful candidates will work with the project lead at Hull, Prof Iain Brennan and the project co-lead, Prof Jo Staines (University of Bristol) and Dr Michael Whelan (University of the West of England) to conduct up to fifteen in-person interviews with women and girls who have been identified as being involved in violence.

Recruitment of these participants has begun and the successful candidate will support this activity and take on the coordination of interviews, which will require good project and personal management skills. The outputs of the project will include a written report to funders and academic outputs that merge a parallel workstream using a large linked dataset. The successful candidate will contribute to literature review and writing as time permits.

As the project is a national study, the project will involve some travel within England by car or public transport and a full clean UK driving licence is required. All activity will be supervised by the project leads.
