Chemify is revolutionising chemistry. We are creating a future where the synthesis of previously unimaginable molecules, drugs, and materials is instantly accessible. By combining AI, robotics, and the world’s largest continually expanding database of chemical programs, we are accelerating chemical discovery to improve quality of life and extend the reach of humanity.
Our Chemifarm facility in Glasgow operates a growing fleet of advanced robotic systems that automate synthesis, optimisation, and library generation. This gives our computational scientists something rare: a direct, high-throughput bridge from in silico design to physically synthesised molecules, closing the design–make–test loop at a pace conventional drug discovery organisations cannot match.
Location: Glasgow, UK (on-site)
Travel: None
The RoleWe are seeking a Chemistry Automation Testing Technician to put our robotic synthesis platform through its paces — running test syntheses on our robotic systems, validating that hardware, firmware, and software perform correctly against real chemistry, and feeding what you find back to the engineering teams. You will be the hands‑on bridge between the lab bench and the engineers building the platform.
What sets this role apart is that you will work at the exact point where automation meets chemistry — the person who confirms that when the platform is told to make a molecule, it actually does.
If running real chemistry on cutting‑edge robotics and helping make it reliable sounds like the right shape of job for you, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and run test syntheses and experiments on our robotic synthesis systems.
- Prepare reagents, load and operate the platform, and follow test protocols safely and accurately.
- Validate hardware, firmware, and software behaviour against expected chemical outcomes.
- Record results carefully, log issues, and feed clear, reproducible feedback to engineering teams.
- Help develop and refine test procedures and acceptance criteria.
- Support routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of the systems.
You are a careful, practical lab worker who likes hands‑on work with equipment and enjoys getting to the bottom of why something did not behave as expected. You are comfortable around chemistry and curious about the automation that runs it.
We expect you to bring- A qualification in chemistry or a related science (e.g. HNC/HND, BSc) or equivalent hands‑on lab experience.
- Practical wet‑lab experience: reagent preparation, running reactions, and following protocols.
- Careful, methodical working and rigorous record‑keeping.
- Comfort working with automated equipment and an appetite to learn the robotics and software side.
- Strong awareness of lab health and safety.
- Experience with automated or high‑throughput lab systems.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, LC-MS, NMR) for checking outcomes.
- Basic data‑logging or scripting ([Python]) to help capture and analyse results.
- Exposure to a regulated or quality‑controlled lab environment.
Impact. You are the check that the platform really works — your testing is what gives everyone confidence that code reliably becomes molecules.
Autonomy. You will own the hands‑on testing that keeps our systems honest.
Ambition. We are a Series B deep‑tech company at the frontier of chemistry and robotics — a chance to work on automated synthesis systems no one else has.
