Post Doc Research Associate

Applications are invited for a Research Associate to join the University of Strathclyde as part of an industrially funded project by Strathclyde’s Advanced Forming Research Centre(AFRC) and the UK Research Centre in Non-Destructive Evaluation (RCNDE). You will be involved in a project to develop the world’s first laser ultrasound array system for real-time, remote and couplant-free ultrasonic micro structural characterisation of metallic parts using Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Dr Theodosia Stratoudaki.

This project has two core aims:

a) microstructural characterisation of metallic components based on laser ultrasound data acquisition

b) ultrasonic array imaging correction of the Total Focusing Method toaccount for the microstructure.

This related research involves equal levels of expertise in computational methods for the development of simulated datasets and training of Deep Learning models, as well as in the design and implementation of experimental optical systems for data acquisition.
