Girish’s Cost cutter is looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Shop Assistant to join its retail team.

The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, maintain high store standards, and support the smooth day-to-day operation of the shop.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers, has a positive attitude, and can perform well in a busy retail environment.

As a Shop Assistant, your duties will include:

• Welcoming customers and providing friendly, professional service.
• Operating the till and processing cash and card payments accurately.
• Restocking shelves and maintaining attractive product displays.
• Checking stock levels and rotating products appropriately.
• Keeping the store clean, organised and tidy.
• Receiving, unloading and putting away deliveries.
• Checking product expiry dates and removing out-of-date stock.
• Following food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
• Reporting suspicious activity and helping to prevent stock loss.
• Supporting managers and colleagues with daily retail operations.

Applicants should have:

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• A reliable, punctual and trustworthy approach to work.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic numeracy and cash-handling skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required.

Previous experience in a retail or convenience store environment is advantageous.

Experience with
EPOS or till systems
, as well as knowledge of food hygiene and retail health and safety
, would also be beneficial.
