Sales Assistant - Student Accommodation (Glasgow)

Temporary - Minimum 4 Weeks - possibility for extension

Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Pay: 13.50 an hour

We are looking for an engaging, confident, and customer‑focused Sales Assistant to support the marketing suite of a newly built student accommodation development in Glasgow. This role is ideal for someone with strong people skills, a warm and professional manner, and experience in sales, retail, hospitality, or customer service. You will be working independently on site, representing the development and ensuring every visitor receives an excellent first impression.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual who enjoys speaking with customers, is naturally persuasive, and is confident promoting a high‑quality product.

About the Role

You will be based in the marketing suite of a brand-new student accommodation building, acting as the first point of contact for prospective residents and their families. Your role will involve presenting the development in a positive light, guiding visitors through room options, and supporting them in securing bookings.

This position requires someone approachable, well‑organised, and able to work comfortably on their own throughout the day while still delivering a polished, proactive service.

Key Responsibilities Front‑of‑House & Customer Engagement
  • Greeting all visitors warmly on arrival, ensuring a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Introducing the development and explaining the key features of the building, including room types, facilities, security, communal areas, and pricing.
  • Conducting informal viewing tours of the marketing suite or show flat, highlighting selling points and answering questions clearly and confidently.
  • Providing information to students, parents, and international applicants in a friendly and reassuring manner.
Sales & Conversion
  • Promoting the accommodation persuasively and encouraging visitors to secure bookings.
  • Using upselling techniques to highlight premium room choices, desirable locations within the building, and additional services when appropriate.
  • Following up on enquiries, helping guide prospective tenants through the booking process, and supporting them with any questions or documentation required.
  • Keeping accurate records of visitor numbers, enquiries, next steps, and room interest levels.
Administration & Suite Management
  • Responding to general enquiries by phone and email, maintaining a polite and efficient communication style.
  • Logging visitor details, updating basic booking information, and ensuring documentation is handled correctly.
  • Keeping the marketing suite presentable at all times - ensuring the area is tidy, stocked with brochures, and suitable for viewings.
  • Monitoring promotional material and requesting replenishment where needed.
Skills & Experience Essential
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Confident speaking with a wide range of people and presenting information clearly.
  • Professional, reliable, and able to work independently without supervision.
  • Comfortable in a sales‑driven environment.
  • Well‑organised, with good attention to detail.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in sales, retail, hospitality, reception, property, or a similar customer‑facing setting.
  • Experience up‑selling products or services.
  • Experience working in environments where you manage first impressions, such as showrooms, front‑of‑house desks, or promotional stands.
  • Ability to handle quieter periods independently while staying proactive and motivated.
Contract Details
  • Hours: 9am - 5pm
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • Duration: Minimum 4‑week temporary assignment - possibility of extension
  • Location: Central Glasgow
  • Start Date: ASAP
