Optimax Access is an established international consultancy specialising in Market Access, Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR), Real-World Evidence (RWE), Health Technology Assessment (HTA), and Evidence Generation services for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology industries.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to help expand our presence within the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Business Development Manager with a proven track record in the Market Access, HEOR, Real-World Evidence, or healthcare consulting sectors.
This is not a general sales role. The successful candidate must have direct experience working within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CRO, healthcare consulting, or related life sciences industry and possess a strong understanding of the scientific, clinical, health economics, and market access principles that underpin reimbursement and value demonstration.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable discussing HTA, pricing and reimbursement, evidence generation, HEOR, patient access, and market access strategies with senior stakeholders in pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
The Business Development Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and will play a key role in driving the growth of Optimax Access across existing and new markets.
Key Responsibilities- Lead business development activities across Market Access, HEOR, RWE, HTA, and Evidence Generation services.
- Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical technology companies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Identify and pursue Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other commercial opportunities.
- Prepare and deliver capability presentations to prospective clients.
- Work closely with scientific and technical teams to develop high-quality proposals and project scopes.
- Develop account plans and identify opportunities for follow-on work with existing clients.
- Negotiate commercial terms and support contract discussions.
- Represent Optimax Access at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.
- Contribute to the development of sales strategies, marketing initiatives, and business growth plans.
- Achieve agreed business development and revenue targets.
- Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Health Economics, Public Health, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years' experience in business development within Market Access, HEOR, RWE, healthcare consulting, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CRO sectors.
- Proven track record of winning new business and meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development, market access, HTA, reimbursement, pricing, HEOR, and evidence generation.
- Experience selling consulting services to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
- Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to engage confidently with senior decision-makers and scientific stakeholders.
- Strong commercial awareness and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Existing network of contacts within pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.
- Experience securing projects related to HTA submissions, HEOR, evidence generation, RWE, or market access strategy.
- Experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Master's degree, MBA, PhD, or equivalent advanced qualification.
