Business Development Manager – Automated Warehousing Solutions Location

Competitive Basic Salary + Uncapped Commission + Company Car/Car Allowance + Benefits The CompanyOur client is a leading provider of automated warehousing and intralogistics solutions, delivering innovative systems that improve productivity, efficiency and operational performance for customers across retail, e-commerce, manufacturing, food & beverage, pharmaceuticals and third-party logistics (3PL).
Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an ambitious Business Development Manager to drive new business growth across the UK, promoting a comprehensive portfolio of warehouse automation technologies.
The RoleAs Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new automation projects with customers looking to optimise their warehouse and distribution operations. You will engage with key decision-makers to understand their operational challenges and develop tailored automation solutions that deliver measurable improvements in throughput, efficiency and return on investment.
Working closely with the solutions design and engineering teams, you will manage opportunities from initial prospecting through to contract award, developing long-term relationships with both new and existing customers.
Key Responsibilities- Develop new business opportunities across the UK within warehouse automation and intralogistics.
- Build relationships with Operations Directors, Supply Chain Directors, Engineering Managers, Warehouse Managers and Distribution Centre Managers.
- Promote a portfolio of automated warehouse solutions including:
- Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
- Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
- Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (ASRS)
- Conveyor and sortation systems
- Shuttle systems
- Goods-to-Person solutions
- Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
- Warehouse Execution Systems (WES)
- Robotics and end-of-line automation
- Identify customer requirements through site surveys and operational assessments.
- Work with internal engineering and solutions teams to produce technical proposals and commercial quotations.
- Manage complex, high-value sales opportunities from initial enquiry through to project award.
- Deliver customer presentations and solution demonstrations.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts.
- Maintain an accurate sales pipeline using CRM software.
- Represent the business at industry exhibitions, networking events and customer visits.
- Proven track record in business development within warehouse automation, materials handling or industrial automation.
- Experience selling capital equipment, automation systems or turnkey engineering solutions.
- Knowledge of AGVs, AMRs, ASRS, conveyors, robotics or warehouse software solutions.
- Strong consultative sales approach with experience managing long and complex sales cycles.
- Ability to engage with senior stakeholders and present technical solutions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Commercially driven with a proven ability to achieve and exceed sales targets.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide.
- Experience selling into retail, e-commerce, logistics, manufacturing or distribution sectors.
- Understanding of warehouse operations, supply chain optimisation and intralogistics.
- Technical or engineering background.
- Experience working with system integrators or automation solution providers.
