We are seeking skilled and motivated Auto Electrician to join our growing team. You’ll play a key role in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems on rail vehicles, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of quality, reliability, and safety.
Responsibilities:- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on rail vehicles, including lighting, control circuits, and power distribution.
- Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and schematics.
- Wire, terminate, and test electrical components such as relays, sensors, and control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance.
- Support upgrades and modifications to rolling stock electrical systems.
- Work collaboratively with mechanical fitters, engineers, and supervisors to meet project and maintenance targets.
- Maintain accurate job records and ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or Auto Electrical.
- Proven experience as an Auto Electrician, ideally within the rail, heavy vehicle, or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of DC and AC electrical systems, diagnostics, and fault‑finding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working to rail industry standards
- Knowledge of train control and communication systems.
Familiarity with PLCs, wiring looms, and modular electrical assemblies.
