north lanarkshire is the largest local authority social landlord in scotland with approximately 36,000 council houses. Within the housing service there are four locality offices covering airdrie/cumbernauld, coatbridge/kilsyth, bellshill/motherwell and wishaw/shotts with our rents team located in viewpark.

this post will be based in motherwell at nl reach (north lanarkshire reactionary, empowering, accessible, community hub) for a period of 12 months. Nl reach will support the implementation of legislative changes associated with the scottish government’s housing (scotland) bill. The proposed ask & act duties require all public bodies to ask about a person’s housing situation at the earliest possible point in service pathways and to take action to prevent homelessness before it occurs.

north lanarkshire’s test and learn prevention pilot will bring critical public services together in one location, providing collaborative support to individuals and families in crisis or at risk of homelessness. The hub coordinator will play a key role in delivering nl reach services by organising cases for discussion, managing service input from partner agencies, ensuring prevention plans are appropriate and achievable, and recording outcomes accurately and professionally.

Nl reach will also include properties offering short stay accommodation for individuals or families who require respite or additional support during key transitional periods. The hub coordinator will contribute to the management and upkeep of these properties, as well as the work spaces where professionals integrate and engage with service users.

the coordinator must demonstrate a strong understanding of trauma informed and person-centred practice, with the ability to recognise and respond to the barriers faced by people experiencing homelessness. Knowledge of how north lanarkshire council’s housing services work in partnership with agencies such as social work, health, and police scotland is highly beneficial. The role requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to effectively link, coordinate, and manage multiple services.

Strong communication, accurate recordkeeping, and the ability to build positive relationships are essential. The postholder should bring a proactive, solution focused approach to supporting individuals and improving service outcomes.

you will have the cih level 4 or level 5 diploma in housing, or the cih level 4 certificate in housing or svq3 in social services & healthcare and be willing to work towards the required qualification in a specified timescale. Extended experience, which includes the management/ monitoring of budgets is essential. Experience of staff supervision, managing and reviewing performance to achieve agreed objectives, managing employees and processes as well as experience of service development are also essential.

you must have a sound knowledge of housing related legislation together with experience and knowledge of resident consultation and promoting resident and community activities. It and report writing skills are also essential for this post.
