Overview
Action for Children is dedicated to protecting and supporting vulnerable children in the UK. The Dundee Youth Housing Service operates across two residential sites in Dundee, accommodating up to 25 young people at a time with housing support and care at home interventions. The service supports homeless or care-experienced young people aged 16 and over, providing temporary accommodation and ongoing support to prevent escalation and reduce pressure on local authority services.
The service operates 24/7 and works in partnership with Dundee City Council to deliver safe, tailored support.

- Provide operational leadership to practitioners and support workers delivering person-centred services to young people
- Oversee structured support pathways: referral, assessment, support planning, and regular review to ensure effective, outcomes-focused interventions
- Collaborate with Social Work, Dundee City Council Housing Teams, and the AFC Prevention Team to complete robust baseline assessments prior to accommodation placements
- Support the team through supervision, guidance, and quality assurance to empower young people toward independent living and sustainable accommodation
- Coordinate staffing for a 24/7 year-round service, manage on-call cover, and respond to unplanned absences to maintain performance
- Lead partnership work with internal and external agencies to develop tailored support packages, promoting best practice and safeguarding
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding, risk management, equality principles, and relevant standards
- Promote positive outcomes by maintaining service standards and contributing to continuous improvement
- Lead and support staff to deliver effective, person-centred support focused on independent living skills, tenancy sustainment, and housing access
- Ensure staff are aware of local services and signpost young people appropriately based on assessed needs
- Provide supervision and practice meetings to foster reflective practice and a cohesive team approach
- Essential: SVQ 3 in Social Services and Healthcare, or HNC Social Services plus management award (PDA)
- Desirable: SVQ4 in Social Services and Healthcare or willingness to work towards; SSSC registration
- Experience supervising staff and working with children and young people with complex trauma
- Strong MS Office skills; experience coaching staff to competency
- Ability to work under pressure with challenging behaviours while ensuring safety
